During their time in London, Notre Dame students are housed in Waterloo's Conway Hall. Home to a couple of world-famous theaters, the BFI IMAX, the London Eye, quality food markets, hip coffee shops, and plenty of great pubs and bars, Waterloo is one of London's best connected and most vibrant areas. The building is a twenty-minute walk across the Jubilee Bridge from Fischer Hall, and only a two-minute walk from London’s celebrated South Bank.
Accommodation in Conway Hall is arranged in clusters of fully furnished and air-conditioned flats with shared bathrooms, equipped kitchens, and living areas. Undergraduate students may share their bedroom with one or more room-mates, while Postgraduate students will be housed in a single bedroom. Alongside their bed, each student will also have their own set of furnishings such as a desk, a wardrobe, drawers, and bookshelves. Duvets, pillows, bed linen and towels are provided for all Conway Hall residents.
Students may also avail themselves of the on-site laundry room with five washing machines, five tumble dryers and ironing stations.
Social Space
There are three rectors who live in flats alongside students at Conway Hall, and they offer regular social activities, such as reading groups, sports teams, London based trips and a very occasional party! Conway Hall nurtures a sense of community, and is set up in a way that reflects this.
The Student Activity Center is a great gathering space for residents with couches, tables and chairs, a TV and a kitchenette for heating food. There are board games and video games available to borrow from Reception.
The center is also set up for study, with separate study rooms on each floor for quiet study time.
There is also a landscaped courtyard connecting the Student Activity Centre with the main building housing the student flats, offering students some fresh air.
Conway Hall is home to a small Chapel. Although modest in size, the chapel is very active and resident Priest Fr. Jim Lies organizes weekly services. Students are welcome to use the Chapel at any time for private prayer.
