Bio

Lana Ko recently received her PhD (2021) from SOAS, University of London. Her main research area is early Chinese thought with the specific topic of cultivation of the body. For more than 10 years, she has been trained in various bodily practices across cultures—South Indian martial art (kalarippayattu), Hatha yoga, Taichi and Qigong from China and Aikido from Japan. She is also deeply interested in calligraphy practice which she started in 2008 while in her native country South Korea. Ko holds two MA degrees, first from the Department of Art History, Seoul National University and second from the Department of Religions and Philosophies, SOAS.
