Global Scholars Program for High School Sophomores and Juniors: Internationalize Your Education and Make Friends Across the Globe
Back by popular demand, Notre Dame's Office of Pre-College Programs will offer Global Scholars in Spring 2021!
The online program is designed to give high school students a taste of studying abroad at the college level. As a Global Scholar, you'll be challenged to see the world from different perspectives and discover new passions along the way.
Notre Dame International faculty will continue to teach from the University’s London, Rome, Ireland, and Latin American Global Gateways, offering high school sophomores and juniors the opportunity to learn topics from an international perspective with other students from around the world. Participants choose from 13 Global Scholars courses and earn one college credit upon completion.
High school sophomore Ashlyn Vogt participated in the Art, COVID-19, and Black Lives Matter: The Global View course from London in Fall 2020. Reflecting on the experience, Vogt says, “The thing I liked most was the ability to learn about things that I have never received the opportunity to learn about before. I thought it was absolutely fascinating that my instructor was from London, and it was amazing for me to see things through her perspective. I loved the discussion groups, and talking with people that I didn't know before—and I made some new friends, which is absolutely fantastic!”
Favorite courses are coming back, with a few new and timely courses added to the Spring 2021 roster.

- Economics of International Trade: Trade Deals and the European Union
- Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Thinking: Natural Places as Heritage
- Modern Political Leadership: The Powers of the US President and the UK Prime Minister Compared
- From Youth Revolution to a New Constitution: The Current Chilean Constitutional Process in Comparative Perspective
- Masterpieces: Making and Meaning
Class sizes are kept small to allow students to develop meaningful connections with one another and benefit from individualized instruction by Notre Dame faculty.

Course Details
Program Dates: March 15 - April 24, 2021
Students will meet online as a class for synchronous learning each week for the duration of the six-week program. Each course has specific day and time requirements: View the schedule for each by clicking on your course of interest.
