Critique of Political Decolonization

-

Location: Notre Dame London

"What is political independence? As a political act, what was it sanctioned to accomplish? Is formal colonialism over, or a condition in the present?"

Bernard Forjwuor will present his book Critique of Political Decolonization, which offers an antinormative and critical challenge to the prevailing narrative that political independence in Ghana constitutes genuine decolonization. This lecture will be of particular interest to students, faculty and scholars engaged in advanced critical inquiries into colonialism, decolonization, liberal democracy, and neoliberalism. Forjwuor's book provides a foundation for rethinking and expanding the discourse on decolonial theory and the evolving practices of democratic governance.

Critique of Political Decolonization was published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
